A second lieutenant who started off as a commissioned officer cadet. She gets upgraded to a commander. At first, she was confused of what to do, was afraid, and was thinking of running away. But as a woman, she decides to fight back those feelings and stay. Even though she's not really good at anything, she manages to bring marksmanship to her platoon. While Kim Tae Hoon leads the platoon with his charisma, Kang Hyun chooses to be personal and privately associates with them. Instead of leading them, she becomes one of them. She's very honest and makes many mistakes. When hardships surface, she automatically becomes hopeless. But after trembling in fear a couple of times, she always gets back up and fights energetically.
